1) General design: state whether analysis is based upon ASD or LRFD.
2) Design criteria: please provide calculations for design pressures (screen roof & screen walls) in
accordance with applicable provisions of the Florida Building Code and/or ASCE7-10 and cite
specific paragraphs and equations. Note also whether pressures are ultimate or nominal pressures.
3) Rational Analysis Calculation for Foundations: "PERIMETER OF EXIST. BUILDING RESISTING
UPLIFT (EB): 104 FT" Is this linear feet? What parts of the existing building comprise the 104 ft?
4) "Telescopic Roof & K -Bracing Detail" This detail appears to be intended for the "Hurricane Braces"
shown on the framing plan on Sheet 1. All of these braces are placed askew to the other vertical and
horizontal elements (beams & eave rails). This detail shows a "U -bracket" formed at a 90° angle, and
does not identify the bracket at the beam. Please clarify this detail and how it works.
5) "Picture Window Header Connection Detail" — "Outside View" This detail has no dimensions,
provide the plate dimensions and fastening requirements. If you consider this assembly to a
structural element resisting the applied lateral loads to the structure, what is the moment resistance
for this assembly?
6) "Cable Attachment Detail" This detail shows a 0.125" 0 cable while the job elevations on Sheet 1
show a 0.1875" 0 cable. Clarify which is to be used and what is the expected lateral [horizontal] force
at the 4X8 header that must be resisted by the cable assembly (for the lateral flow through load case,
i.e. wind normal to the sides of the enclosure)?
7) Provide a calculation showing the allowable stress for the 2X8 SMB ("8LB") specified for the roof
beams on this project and identify the references to provisions of the Aluminum Design Manual as
referenced in the Florida Building Code.
8) "Column Anchoring Detail" Notes 2, 3 & 4 are obscured and not readable because of the [your]
seal, provide the narrative of those 3 notes.
9) "Mansard Beam Splice" Provide a calculation for the allowable bending moment for this mitered
connection.
