A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
PARKLAND, FLORIDA, APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO
THE LOCALLY FUNDED AGREEMENT WITH FDOT FOR THE
LOXAHATCHEE ROAD IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT;
AUTHORIZING EXECUTION; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS
AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Loxahatchee Road Improvements Project is a joint effort between the
City of Parkland ("City"), Broward County, the Florida Department of Transportation ("FDOT")
and the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization("MPO") for the overall improvement of the
six mile corridor along Loxahatchee Road from the Arthur Marshall Loxahatchee Refuge to State
Road 7 (the "Lox Road Project"); and
WHEREAS, the Lox Road Project will include roadway widening, construction of
roundabouts and new swales, roadway lighting, landscaping and drainage structures along
Loxahatchee Road; and
WHEREAS, the City is responsible for a contributing share for City requested
improvements to be constructed or installed in connection with the Lox Road Project, including
construction of roundabouts at three locations along Lox Road (Nob Hill Road, University Drive
and Parkside Drive), installation of roadway lighting at the three roundabouts, pavement widening
to add left turn lanes at three locations (NW 61st Way, Allegro, and SR-7/US-441) and
construction of a curbed landscaped median(the "Project"); and
WHEREAS, on April 30, 2021, the City and FDOT entered into a Locally Funded
Agreement with FDOT, (the "LFA"), wherein the City agreed to provide funding for certain
Project improvements in connection with the Lox Road Project; and
WHEREAS, the City's share of the Project cost is an estimated amount of $1,783,881,
which amount has been paid by the City to FDOT pursuant to the LFA; and
WHEREAS, the City and FDOT desire to amend the LFA in the manner set forth in the
attached Exhibit"1",(the"LFA Amendment")to add an additional phase and additional sequences
to the Lox Road Project, provide for the updated estimated total Lox Road Project cost
($36,316,149), and to allow FDOT to move funding between all construction phases; and
WHEREAS,the City of Parkland wishes to execute the LFA Amendment.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF PARKLAND, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The above referenced "Whereas" clauses are true and correct and made a
part hereof.

Section 2. The City Commission hereby approves the LFA Amendment with FDOT.
Section 3. The City Commission authorizes the appropriate City officials to execute
the LFA Amendment, attached as Exhibit "1", together with such non-substantial changes as are
acceptable to the City Manager and approved as to form and legal sufficiency by the City Attorney.
Section 4. All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 5. That appropriate City officials are authorized to do all things necessary and
expedient to carry of the aims of this Resolution.
Section 6. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption.
