HomeMy WebLinkAbout2022-047 2023 Family Fun Fest RESOLUTION NO. 2022-047 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PARKLAND, FLORIDA, APPROVING AN AGREEMENT WITH BIG FUN, INC. FOR THE 2023 FAMILY FUN FEST TO BE HELD AT PINE TRAILS PARK ON JANUARY 13-15, 2023; PROVIDING FOR EXECUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Parkland (City) desires to host the 2023 Family Fun Fest on January 13-15, 2023 for residents of the City; and WHEREAS, due to the level of popularity, the Parks and Recreation Department would like to continue hosting the event at Pine Trails Park; and WHEREAS, Pine Trails Park will be able to accommodate participants and support the event parking, similar as hosted in 2022; and WHEREAS, staff is requesting approval to enter into an agreement with Big Fun, Inc; and WHEREAS,based on the 2022 event,the overall revenue in ticket sales is estimated to be $130,000 and generate over$17,000 in revenue for the City; and WHEREAS, the City Procurement Code Section 2-143.9(15) provides that "Arts and entertainment (artistic services, performing artists, entertainment and amusements at festivals or special events) are exempt from the City's competitive bidding requirements due to the nature of the goods or services; and the Code further requires the City Commission to approve all exempt purchases over$50,000 per annum; and WHEREAS, the City Commission hereby determines it to be in the best interest of the residents of the City to approve the agreement with Big Fun, Inc., for the 2023 Family Fun Fest. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PARKLAND, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The above referenced "Whereas" clauses are true and correct and made a part hereof. Section 2. The City Commission hereby approves the agreement with Big Fun, Inc. for the 2022 Family Fun Fest to be held at Pine Trails Park on January 13-15, 2023. Section 3. The agreement has been reviewed for legal form and sufficiency by the City Attorney for execution by the appropriate City Official. Section 4. That appropriate City officials are authorized to do all things necessary and expedient to carry of the aims of this Resolution. Section 5.
