HomeMy WebLinkAbout2022-031 Support for Resilient Florida Grant Application RESOLUTION NO. 2022-031 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PARKLAND, FLORIDA, EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR THE SUBMISSION OF AN APPLICATION TO THE RESILIENT FLORIDA GRANT PROGRAM; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS,the Resilient Florida Program includes a selection of grants that are available to counties, municipalities, water management districts, flood control districts, and regional resilience entities, and WHEREAS,to effectively address the impacts of flooding and sea level rise,the Resilient Florida Program offers funding assistance in the form of grants to analyze and plan for vulnerabilities, as well as implement projects for adaptation and mitigation; and WHEREAS, local governments are eligible to apply for implementation project funding only after conducting a Vulnerability Assessment; and WHEREAS, the City wishes to submit an application in the Fiscal Year 2022-2023 funding cycle for a Planning grant to conduct a Vulnerability Assessment of the entire City and a Resolution of Support is required to establish funding eligibility; and WHEREAS,the City commits to complete the Vulnerability Assessment per the terms of the Resilient Florida Grant Program. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PARKLAND, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The above referenced "Whereas" clauses are true and correct and made a part hereof. Section 2. The City Commission hereby endorses the submission of a Planning grant application for a Vulnerability Assessment to be submitted for funding consideration. Section 3. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute this Resolution. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED THIS 13th DAY OF JULY, 2022.
