A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
PARKLAND, FLORIDA, ADOPTING THE CITY'S ADA
TRANSITION PLAN IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
REQUIREMENTS OF TITLE II OF THE AMERICANS WITH
DISABILITIES ACT; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS,
IMPLEMENTATION AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Parkland (City) is subject to the federal Americans with
Disabilities Act(ADA); and
WHEREAS, Title II of the ADA requires that State and Local Governments must ensure
that individuals with disabilities are not excluded from programs, services, and activities; and
WHEREAS, as part of the Title II requirements, government entities should:
1. Designate an ADA Coordinator
2. Develop and post an ADA Policy Statement
3. Develop and post Grievance Procedures/Complaint Procedures for the general public
4. Complete a self-evaluation of current services, policies, and practices
5. Develop an ADA Transition Plan; and
WHEREAS, the City completed items 1-3 listed in the Title II requirements in 2019; and
WHEREAS, completion of items 4-5 listed in the Title II requirements shall be
accomplished by adoption of the City's ADA Transition Plan; and
WHEREAS,the City deems it essential in its duties to its residents to ensure that the City's
programs, services, and activities are as accessible as possible to those with disabilities; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission believes adoption of the ADA Transition Plan is in the
best interest of the City.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF PARKLAND, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The above referenced "Whereas" clauses are true and correct and made a
part hereof.
Section 2. The City Commission hereby adopts the City's ADA Transition Plan, and
the recommendations for remediation of accessibility issues contained therein.
Section 3. Upon adoption, the ADA Transition Plan shall be posted on the City's
website and provide accommodations for resident feedback.
Section 4. The City Commission may modify the ADA Transition Plan when
necessary to comply with all applicable federal requirements.
Section 5. All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 6. That appropriate City officials are authorized to do all things necessary and
expedient to carry of the aims of this Resolution.
Section 7. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED THIS 15th DAY OF JUNE, 2022.
