1999-32 Supporting Concurrency RESOLUTION NO. 99 - 32 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PARKLAND, FLORIDA URGING THE BROW ARD COUNTY COMMISSION AND THE BROWARD COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD TO ADOPT ANY AND ALL REGULATIONS NECESSARY TO ADOPT PUBLIC SCHOOL FACILITY CONCURRENCY WITHIN BROW ARD COUNTY. WHEREAS, it is acknowledged by all that there is a critical shortage of public school facilities in Broward County; and WHEREAS, Broward County and the Broward County School Board have been exploring ways to impose the doctrine of concurrency as one means towards addressing the problem; and WHEREAS, the City of Parkland, as a growing municipality, clearly understands the need to coordinate future growth with improvement in the public school situation in Broward County; and WHEREAS, concurrency for public school facilities clearly is imperative for Broward County; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PARKLAND, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The City Commission of the City of Parkland hereby strongly urges the Broward County Commission and the School Board ofBroward County to pursue by all legal means, the imposition of a program of concurrency for public school facilities in Broward County. Section 2. The City Clerk is hereby authorized to distribute copies of this resolution to each member of the School Board ofBroward County and the Broward County Commission, as well as the Broward County Administrator and the Superintendent of the School Board of Broward County. Section 3. EFFECTIVE DATE This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED THIS 1 9 DAY OF MAY , 1999.
