1999-27 Hillsboro Blvd Landscaping and Irrigation RESOLUTION NO. 99-27 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PARKLAND, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY OFFICIALS TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE TERRAMAR HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION FOR IRRIGATION AND LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE OF HILLSBORO BOULEVARD WHEREAS, the Terramar Homeowners Association has requested consideration for City maintenance of the median and rights-of-way on Hillsboro Boulevard; and WHEREAS, it is in the City's interest to maintain a Parklike and consistent landscape design and maintenance program throughout the City for continuity and an overall visual statement; and WHEREAS, the Terramar Homeowners Association will be relieved from the inherent and long term responsibility of maintenance of areas truly beneficial to the entire City. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PARKLAND, FLORIDA, THAT: Section 1. The appropriate City Officials are hereby authorized to complete any and all paperwork to convey this responsibility from the Terramar Homeowners Association to the City of Parkland and the City Officials are hereby authorized to complete all paperwork and enter into any agreements necessary with Broward County to convey this responsibility. Section 2. Upon such agreement, City staff is directed to commence maintenance and consider landscape design alternatives for the area so as to make it consistent with the universally high standard prevailing throughout the City. It is dated March 20, 1990. According to the agreement, Terramar did not have the right to transfer the maintenance of Hillsboro Blvd. To date, we do not have an agreement with the County. .. MERTZ, CITY MANAGER FROM: JON MATTLIN, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR SUBJECT: HILLSBORO BOULEVARD LANDSCAPING AND IRRIGATION DATE: MAY 11, 1999 Per your request, the following is an estimated breakdown of costs associated with the maintenance of the subject: CUTTING: This process usually involves four men: one senior man and 3 maintenance workers $374.08 per cut times 30 cuts per year = $11,222.40 annually WEEDING: $374.08 per visit times 4 visits per year = $1,496.32 annually FERTILIZING: $374.08 per visit times 3 visits per year = $1,122.24 annually Please bear in mind that these figures are only estimates and can vary according to weather and schedule conflicts. The various fertilizers needed for Hillsboro Boulevard maintenance should amount to $2,000 or less. IRRIGATION: As you well know, the history of this system is somewhat sketchy. It is quite hard at this point to say how much time or money will be spent on maintaining this system. If I were to estimate, I would speculate that it could cost approximately $2,000 or more depending on what problems might arise.
