1997-38 Agreement with Coral Springs for Use of Firearms Training Facility RESOLUTION NO. 97- 38 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PARKLAND, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING CITY OFFICIALS TO EXECUTE THE ATTACHED ADDENDUM TO THE, FIREARMS TRAINING FACILITY AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF PARKLAND AND THE CITY OF CORAL SPRINGS, FLORIDA. WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Parkland finds and determines it is in the best interests of the citizens of the City to execute the attached Addendum, which restricts the use of certain weapons at the Coral Springs Firearms Training Facility, between the City of Parkland and the City of Coral Springs; NOW, THEREFORE, BElT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PARKLAND, FLORIDA: Section 1.~ The appropriate City officials are hereby authorized to execute the attached Addendum to Resolution 94-63 entitled: "Firearms Training Facility Agreement" between the City of Parkland and the City of Coral Springs. $ectlon 2. Deputy City Clerk Enclosure (2) CC: Chief Steve List, Director of Public Safety winward'misc8doc , i. and the ADDENDUM TO LICENSE AGREEMENT FOR USE OF FIREARMS/TRAINING FACILITY This Addendum is made this ~ day of ~ ' 1997, by between the City of Coral Springs (hereinafter "LICENSOR") and City of Parkland, (hereinafter referred to as "LICENSEE"). Pursuant to Paragraph 2.07 of the License Agreement For Use of Firearms/Training Facility, the "LICENSEE shall abide by all rules and regulations that LICENSOR may, from time to time, make or adopt for the care, protection and operation of the facility." By this Addendum, LICENSOR puts all LICENSEEs on notice of the following change to its rules and regulations. (1) LICENSOR hereby adopts the following rules/restrictions for the safe operation and protection of the range facility, which will be effective immediately, and continue in full force until further notice by LICENSOR: (a) Rifle caliber weapons (.223, .308, etc.) shall not be fired at the range facility. (b) Shotgun slugs shall not be fired at the range facility. (c) Shotguns using 00 buck loads will be fired only within fifteen (15) yards of the target bunker. No shotguns will be fired beyond the fifteen (15) yard line. (d) Carbines and sub-machine guns of handgun caliber (9mm, 40, 45, etc.) can be fired on the range at any standard distance in semi-automatic mode only. (e) Sub-machine guns of handgun caliber (9mm, 40, 45, etc.) can be fired in full automatic mode only at fifteen (15) yards or closer to the target bunker. 2. Exceptions to subparagraphs (a) through (e) above shall be approved by the Coral Springs Range Officer for the sole purpose of testing a weapon and will only be conducted with LICENSEE's designated Firearms Instructor/Range Officer or Armorer. All exceptions to the above require prior scheduling and the presence of the Coral Springs Range Officer at said testing. 3. LICENSEE shall be responsible for ensuring its personnel is in compliance with the above rules/restrictions. 4. An annual meeting of Licensees of the Firearms/Training Facility will be scheduled and arranged by the Coral Springs Range Officer for the purpose of amendments, updates and review of the 1 operating procedure for the facility. Attenda~ce at the meeting is required in order to maintain scheduling rights for firearms training. The annual meeting shall be conducted in October of each year and will be held at the facility.
