HomeMy WebLinkAbout1997-15 Authorization of $15,241.80 from Police Forfeiture Funds Account Heckler & Koch Handguns RESOLUTION NO. 97-15 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PARKLAND, FLORIDA, AUmORlZING THE USE OF 518,041.80 FROM THE POLICE FORFEITURE FUNDS ACCOUNT TO BE UTILIZED TO PURCHASE FIRE ARMS AND LEATHER HOLSTERS AND MAGAZINE POUCHES WHEREAS, the Public Safety Director and the City Manager recommend that $18,041.80 from the Police Forfeiture Funds Account be utilized toward the purchase of Heckler & Koch 40 Caliber Handguns, Public Safety Department Contract No. 97-01 ($15,241.80) and Leather Holsters and Magazine Pouches ($2,800.00); and WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the City Commission that said expenditure is an appropriate law enforcement expenditure and will aid the City in proper enforcement of its laws. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PARKLAND, FLORIDA: Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to expend $18,041.80 from the Police Forfeiture Funds Account for the purchase of Heckler & Koch 40 Caliber Handguns ($15,241.80) and Leather Holsters and Magazine Pouches ($2,800.00). The $15,241.80 for the purchase of the handguns was previously approved on May 7th (Resolution 97-10). The related leather items include security holsters and magazine pouches designed for this particular weapon. Three vendors were solicited for prices and Lawman's & Shooters of Vero Beach had the most competitive prices. We respectfully request $15,241.80 to purchase handguns and $2,800.00 to purchase related leather items from the Police Forfeiture Fund Account for a total amount of $18,041.80. This account has a current balance of $21,909.
