CITY CLERK Parkland Public Safety Department 8100 Parkaide Drive Parkland, Florida 33087 (964) 753-5050 Fax 753-4529 MEMO TO: FROM: SUBJECT: DATE: Hany Mertz, CIty Manager Steven Ust, Director of Public Safety Reque" to Use Confiscation Funds September 18, 1996 I respectfully request to use $1,200 of our confiscation funds to purchase a digital camera. We currently have approximately $10,000 of confiscation monies in our Law Enforcement Trust Fund. We researched five different models of digital cameras. Our recommendation is the Kodak Digital Science model as it will be able to serve several functions. It has the ability to take close images of evidentiary items; take portraits of prisoners for booking and identification purposes; take pictures of city employees for identification cards; and can serve as a general camera at vehicle accident and fire scenes. All photos taken will be able to be down-loaded into our computer and reproduced on identifications cards, photo line-ups, attached to a case or evidence report. Price includes the camera, software, case, tri-pod and all ancillary equipment. Attached is a flyer regarding the features of the camera.
