RESOLUTION 96-01
A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING AND ZONING BOARD OF
THE CITY OF PARKLAND, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE
DOCTRINE OF CONCURRENCY FOR PUBLIC EDUCATION
FACILITIES TO BE APPLIED AT THE EARLIEST POSSIBLE TIME
BY THE CITY OF PARKLAND.
WHEREAS, the City of Parkland Planning and Zoning Board is concerned with the
overcrowded condition of the Broward County public school system; and
WHEREAS, this overcrowding is reaching critical proportions and is working to the detriment
of both the students of the City of Parkland and the residents of Broward County at large; and
WHEREAS, the City of Parkland Planning and Zoning Board supports the implementation
of the doctrine of concurrency and supports said implementation at the earliest possible stage in the
development review process, including application of the doctrine with respect to all property platting
subsequent to this date;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PLANNING AND ZONING BOARD
OF THE CITY OF PARKLAND, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City of Parkland Planning and Zoning Board supports the implementation
of the doctrine of concurrency for public educational facilities in Broward County. The City of
Parkland Planning and Zoning Board supports the implementation of said doctrine at the earliest part
of the development process which is possible. The City of Parkland Planning and Zoning Board
further supports implementation of said doctrine with respect to all plats which are approved
subsequent to the date of this resolution or for all site plans approved subsequent to the implementation
of the doctrine of concurrency by Broward County.
Section 2. The City of Parkland Planning and Zoning Board requests that this resolution
be transmitted to the City Commission for any action consistent herewith.
