1995-29 Opposition to Property Rights Legislation to Govenor Chiles RESOLUTION NO. 95-29 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PARKLAND, FLORIDA, URGING GOVERNOR CmLES TO VETO THE BERT HARRIS, JR., PRIVATE PROPERTY RIGHTS PROTECTIONS ACT. WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Florida recently passed the Bert HarrIs, Jr., Private Property Rights Protections Act; and WHEREAS, the City of Parkland believes that said Act would. impose an undue burden upon governmental entities and their ability to properly regulate development within their jurisdictions; and WHEREAS, the City of Parkland also believes the Act contains te1ms which are unduly vague, does not reflect a well thought out procedure for protection of property rights, and is weighted too heavily towards the interests of development and against the interests of properly planned growth; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF TIlE CITY OF PARKLAND, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The City of Parkland does hereby strongly urge Governor Chiles to veto the Bert Harris, Jr., Private Property Rights ProtectionS Act as recently passed by the Florida Legislature for the reasons stated above. Section 2. The City Clerk is hereby authorized to provide copies of this resolution to Governor Chiles and such other parties as is deemed appropriate. Date Adopted: May 10 . 1995.
