A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF PARKLAND, FLORIDA EXPRESSING ITS STRONG
OPPOSITION TO THE PROPOSED LOCAL BILL WHICH
WOULD CONTRACT THE CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF
PARKLAND BY TWENTY-SIX (26) ACRES AND ANNEX
SAID PROPERTY INTO THE CITY OF CORAL SPRINGS
WHEREAS, the City of Coral Springs has submitted a local
Bill to the Broward County Legislative Delegation which would have
the effect of contracting the City limits of the City of Parkland
by approximately twenty-six (26) acres and annexing said lands into
the City of Coral Springs; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Parkland has
met on October 19th, 1994, to discuss said local Bill; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Parkland
unanimously voted to oppose said local Bill and do oppose any
action which would contract the corporate boundaries of the City
of Parkland in any way,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF PARKLAND, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the City of Parkland, Florida does
hereby express its strong opposition to the proposed local Bill to
contract the City limits of the City of Parkland by approximately
26 acres and annex said lands into the City of Coral Springs.
Section 2. The City of Parkland does hereby express
its strong opposition to any local Bill or any other action which
would contract the corporate boundaries or in any other way affect
the sovereignty of the City of Parkland over all lands within its
corporate boundaries.
Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
provide copies of this Resolution to all members of the Broward
County Legislative Delegation, to the Mayor and Commissioners of
the City of Coral Springs, and to any other parties who he deems
appropriate.
PASSED AND ADOPTED THIS 19th DAY OF OCTOBER , 1994.
