A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
PARKLAND. FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE CITY OFFICIALS TO
SUPPORT THE LOCATION OF A MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL
FRANCHISE IN SOUTH FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the existence of Major League Baseball in Florida
would be a significant benefit to our community and South Florida
as a whole; and
WHEREAS, the existence of Major League Baseball would
provide an additional recreational facility that would benefit
our citizens and attract business and industry to South Florida;
and
WHEREAS, the existence of Major League Baseball would
provide a major economic benefit to all of South Florida; and
WHEREAS, major sports franchises are a means of uniting and
binding a community; and
WHEREAS, Major League Baseball has expressed a strong
interest in locating a Major League Baseball franchise at Joe
Robbie Stadium,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF PARKLAND, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the appropriate City officials, on behalf
of the citizens of Parkland, urge Major League Baseball to bring
a franchise to South Florida.
Section 2. That this Resolution shall be in full force and
effect immediately upon its passage and adoption.
